About Us

The College Preparation Center of Boston (a.k.a. CPCB) has won a high reputation in the Boston area. It is lead by Dr. Songping Gao, who founded the center in 2002. CPCB focuses on SAT training and tutoring for applications into America’s top colleges. It serves both American native high school students and international students from China. CPCB has a stronger team of teachers and advisors who all have master degrees or higher degrees of education, as well as comprehensive experience in SAT training. The CPCB team has created its own unique method of teaching that adapts for each case. The team also delivers a high quality of education, and has tremendous experience in communicating with a variety of students.

Since 2002, thousands of students have been trained in the SAT and college applications by CPCB. 100 of those students got into top 20 colleges. 200 of them have been admitted to top 50 colleges. 30 students have scored above 2300 on the SAT. Students that went through the four-week intensive training improved their total SAT score by an average of 250 points.

As the popularity and reputation of CPCB increases, more and more Chinese students are joining the intensive training in Boston during their school breaks. Since 2010, CPCB has worked with Chinese high schools through group training sessions. In the summer of 2011, 105 students from the International Department of Xian Gaoxinyizhong (A Top 3 high school in Shanxi Province) participated in a two week SAT training camp with CPCB. After 13 days of classes, students achieved a score improvement at an average of 243 points. The highest improvement from that group was 860 points (going from 1100 to 1970). The highest total score was 2070 points (starting at 1700 before training). 5 students scored a perfect score (800 points) in math. This group training was a huge success, garnering praise from students, parents, and the school. Besides SAT training, CPCB has experience in helping students create great college applications. Since the center was founded, CPCB has sent students to top colleges including Harvard University, Princeton University, MIT, Stanford University, Columbia University, University of California, Berkeley, Yale University, Brown University, Cornell University, Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, Amherst College, and more. For those students that have had challenges getting good grades, CPCB has sent students to America’s top 60 colleges; since 2012, 20 students have been sent to top 60 colleges. CPCB provides students with the newest information, advises and helps with college application essays, and provides academic advising on choosing a major. CPCB provides every student with a unique study plan and application style that fits them perfectly. It has helped a huge amount of students get into their dream schools.
